Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group (MAPMG) invites applications for anIntern to join our Strategy and Communications department. This position is a part-time opportunity based out of our regional office located in Rockville, MD with a hybrid work model.

Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group is comprised of more than 1,700 Permanente physicians and nearly 300 staff professionals who come together to make a positive impact on the health and lives of more than 800,000 members in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.

Reporting to a Director of Regional Surgical Services Strategy, the Surgical Services Strategy Internwill provide support to a team of Executive Consultants engaging directly with the physician executives they support. In the past, interns have worked on a variety of high-profile projects including redesigning clinical care pathways, adjusting medical group policies to adapt to changing legislation, spearheading physician engagement programs, and managing large-scale community engagement initiatives. As part of the internship program, you will gain on the job training that integrates education and career development.

The summer internship is an 11-week program that begins on June 3, 2024 and ends on August 16, 2024. This is a part-time internship position allocated for 20 hours per week. Intern positions are ineligible for benefits.

You can expect to:

  • Develop materials for quarterly conferences discussing important surgical case work of MAPMG providers
  • Prepare an updated Ambulatory Surgical Center procedure list with proper credentialing and licensing details
  • Provide administrative support to the team of Executive Consultants on important organizational projects
  • Partner with MAPMG physicians and supervisors on implementing strategy initiatives within our medical centers

What is required:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program throughout the duration of the internship program
    • Recent college graduates are ineligible for internship positions
  • Preferred candidates are college students working towards a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Public Health, Business Administration, or Health Administration or related field
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint is highly preferred
  • Experience within a healthcare system is highly preferred
  • Ideal applicants will be detail-oriented, energized by a fast-paced environment and great team players
  • The ability to commute to Rockville, MD, three (3) days per week
  • Candidates must reside or be willing to relocate to the Washington D.C., Maryland, or Virginia area for consideration
  • Must provide proof of Covid booster vaccine (released in September 2023) and influenza vaccine as a condition of employment
