Job Description

DESCRIPTION:

To provide specialized repair (radiology, RF, CR, ultrasound, etc.) and maintenance services to medical imaging equipment. To provide vendor coordination and documentation on all non-HFHS repairs and to appropriately document all repairs to ensure compliance with all government standards and rules.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Knows, understands, incorporates and demonstrates the Henry Ford Health System Mission, Vision and Values in behaviors, practices and decisions.
  • Demonstrates the ability to complete work, document the work in the database per regulatory standards, is proficient in opening/closing work orders, able to order parts and procure a req through the PO process and can manage vendors. For in house promotions these are minimum standards that must be displayed before promotion is considered, for outside candidates they must be mastered within the first 90 days.
  • Under supervision from the manager/lead technician and according to departmental procedures, performs substantial preventive and corrective maintenance and safety testing.
  • Requests repair parts and special equipment as needed.
  • Assists with projects such as equipment installations and evaluations as needed.
  • Provides technical information and in-service on the proper function of equipment to Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) personnel within their area of responsibility.
  • Practices universal precautions to assure that infection control is maximized.
  • Coordinates vendor services, assures completion of work requested and acquires field service reports.
  • Maintains documentation in accordance with department policy.
  • Interfaces with departmental computer system as required.
  • Assumes minor extra duties, including work normally assigned to Biomedical Equipment Technicians.
  • Assists with the formulation and revision of department policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly work area at all times.
  • Stays current with regulations and governing agency standards.
  • Deals with co-workers and customers with care and respect.
  • Participates in department rotation providing 24-hour on-call coverage for HFHS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Associate degree in electronics/biomedical technology or equivalent, to include military, original equipment manufacturer (OEM), or industry recognized technical training program.
  • Must have at least five years as a general biomed or one year experience servicing imaging equipment with certification on schools attended from 3rd party or OEM vendor in medical imaging equipment.
  • Through completion of the Clinical Engineering Skills Competency Assessment shows a basic well-rounded knowledge and exhibits continual improvement on an annual basis.
  • Some basic knowledge of networking and computers and their application in medical imaging.
  • Provides technical leadership and guidance to Clinical Engineering staff throughout the HFHS.
  • Contributes to the creation and maintenance of support documentation in his or her area of expertise.
