FirstLight Power is looking for innovative, collaborative, and team-oriented summer temps to join our talented and dynamic team of individuals working to decarbonize the grid and accelerate the clean energy transformation.

The Engineering Intern/Summer Temp will provide support to the Engineering Team by assisting with drawing and document management, projects, the dam safety program, and maintenance. Will also provide support in other areas as needed. This position is on-site in New Milford, CT.

START DATE: June 03, 2024 END DATE: August 16, 2024

Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Drawing and document management
    • Scan, archive and index technical reports and drawings
    • Assist with edits to AutoCAD drawings, verifying existing drawings in the registry;
  • Project Support
    • Assist Project and/or Engineering Manager with projects including vendor interface, technical coordination, drafting, closeout reports and other duties;
  • Cybersecurity and Controls Support
    • Assist with controls equipment cybersecurity tasks;
  • Dam Safety and Reliability:
    • Collect information from field data (piezometers, structural gauges, uplift sensors, bearing temperatures, etc.);
    • Perform edits and formatting to Operations Maintenance and Surveillance documents;
  • Maintenance Support
    • Assist the Operations group with the audit and corrections in the facilities PM system;
  • Carries out other duties and responsibilities as assigned;
  • Complies with all FirstLight policies and procedures.

Job Qualifications / Skills

  • Desire for exposure to the renewable energy industry, and/or passion for decarbonizing the grid;
  • Actively enrolled in a Mechanical, Civil or Electrical degree program from a regionally-accredited university or college;
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Software;
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment as well as taking on individual tasks;
  • Proactive at asking questions, seeking to understand, and making recommendations for improvement;
  • Desire to innovate, think of new ideas, and solve for bigger problems;
  • Engage in actively fostering an inclusive environment;
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills;
  • Intermediate MS Suite skills.
