JX Truck Center - Champaign is a subsidiary of JX Enterprises, Inc. We have 25 dealerships in 4 states: Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin. As of this posting, the Champaign branch has approximately 23 employees in all of their departments.

Job Overview:

The Service Technician maintains diesel equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments; keeping records. This is a Monday - Friday, first shift position.

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00/hr. (based on education, experience, # of OEM certifications, skill set, etc.) + UNCAPPED Service Technician Incentive Program

Shift: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Monday - Friday)

Shift Premium: Any hours worked/work performed Monday - Friday, 5:00 p.m. - 5:59 a.m., and/or any hours worked on weekends (Saturday/Sunday) will be paid a shift differential of 15% of your base wage.

Working Arrangement: On-site (100%)

Hiring Manager: Ian Boyce

What's the Manager Like? Ian is laid back, lets employees do their work (without micro-managing), and likes off-road racing.

Interview process: 1 interview with Ian (15-20 minutes) and an additional interview with Amber Kaufman (Regional Service Manager) and Heath Littrel (Regional Operations Manager) immediately after the interview with Ian (45-60 minutes at the most in one day).

Time Frame to Fill: As soon as we find the right candidates for the job, and someone that fits in with the Champaign team.

Performance Objectives:

  • Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
  • Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.
  • Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
  • Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
  • Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
  • Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.
  • All other duties as assigned

Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Trade school or college education in a diesel technology program preferred.
  • 2+ years related work experience preferred.
  • Mechanical knowledge required.
  • Valid Driver's License required; CDL preferred (must be willing to obtain).
  • Dependable and reliable attendance required.
